Delhi 2 Dublin

Delhi 2 Dublin continues to break the mold one album after another, busting genres as they go. It’s as if the band has been sent on a mission to further spread their sound across the planet and out into the galaxy. They describe the 2010-release of Planet Electric “as the buzz of the world that they are plugging into some large socket to electrify the people, to charge up their energy”. To capture that dynamism, all of the tracks on the album were road-tested in front of live audiences before being recorded. Something else the band did differently from the last album was going on a writers’ retreat where they worked on the music day and night for ten days straight. The results are definitely more representative of Delhi 2 Dublin as a band and a noticeable progression. The icing on the cake was being able to get Diamond “DJ Swami” Duggal (Apache Indian/Maxi Priest/Nusrat Fateh Ali) to mix the tracks.

Hour Magazine wrote that “Delhi 2 Dublin is the United Nations of rock ‘n’ roll”. The Vancouver, Canada-based band plays an energetic mash-up of Bhangra, Celtic, Dub, Reggae and Electronica with global rhythms and club beats. Tarun Nayar, Sanjay Seran, Andrew Kim and Ravi Binning, along with guest musicians Jaron Freeman-Fox and Sara Fitzpatrick, are diverse in both their backgrounds and musical influences. The band has been together almost six years and has released four full-length albums plus the latest EP, Delhi 2 Dubland.

Back in 2006, a live collaboration put together as a one-off performance piece for a club-night in Vancouver called “Delhi to Dublin” was so well-received that requests for additional performances led to the official formation of Delhi 2 Dublin. “Not being able to fit into any specific genre allows the band to create whatever we like and not be judged for it. Our audience expects nothing less.” The band finds this advantageous for their live show as it enables them to create a flow to their sets much like a DJ would for the dance floor. “Audiences love to see a band transcending stereotypes and letting the music speak for itself”.

The Delhi 2 Dublin crew are road warriors. They have played major festivals in both Canada and the U.S. including Bumbershoot in Seattle, Earthdance in California, Canada Day on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Stern Grove in San Francisco as well as such diverse events as SXSW in Austin, TX, the Keelung City Ghost Festival in Taiwan, the BaliSpirit Festival in Indonesia and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The band has an ambitious schedule planned for 2012 kicking off with a handful of dates throughout the westcoast, as well as expanding horizons to include performances in Asia and Europe. In addition, a fresh new album is in the works to be released later this year. Delhi 2 Dublin has become one of Canada’s most buzzed-about bands and 2012 will only see them enhancing that reputation. After all…where else are you going to see a kick-ass fiddle player rocking out with a kilt-wearing Korean flanked by two bouncing Bhangra percussionists and a vocalist who looks like he would be at home in a Bollywood music video?

    Tyler Gregory

Hailing from the rolling hills of Kansas, Tyler Gregory can regularly be found busking on city streets with his deep voice and steam-powered melodies bouncing off the street-side architecture. His sturdy songcraft takes cues from WWII-era blues bellowers like Leadbelly and Son House.

Gregory's mix of blues and roots music howls with a sense of passion and freedom. Singing songs portraying stories of travel, land, and the meaning of simplicity, Gregory goes full force on his guitar/stomp-box live performance arrangements.

            Steve Ewing of The URGE

St. Louis based musician Steve Ewing is best known as the golden voice behind the seven piece powerhouse The Urge.

Formed in high school back in late 80’s, The Urge took their eclectic mix of punk, reggae, hip hop, ska, and sent a sonic shockwave from the Midwest that can still be felt to this day. After 4 independent label releases they were picked up by the Immortal/Epic label, home to such artists as Korn and Incubus, and released 3 albums of their own. Alternative radio stations everywhere were spinning “All Washed Up”, “Brainless”, “It’s Gettin’ Hectic”, “Straight to Hell”, “Four Letters and Two Words”, “Too Much Stereo”, and the top ten “Jump Right In” featuring Nick Hexum of 311 fame. Many St. Louis natives fondly remember The Urge from their intense, face-melting shows at venues such as Mississippi Nights and local festivals like PointFest. The Urge spent much of their time touring alongside aforementioned artists Korn, Incubus and 311. In 2001, the band amicably parted ways and have performed a few one off reunion shows since.

                    All Ages | 8 pm

                    Play Dead

As we approach the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead in 2015, this group of talented and eclectic musicians has come together to celebrate the remarkable repertoire and live experience of the Grateful Dead. More than what you’d expect from a typical tribute band, this group embraces the foundation of what made the Dead’s sound so unique by creating a landscape of masterful improvisation, rich harmonies and beautiful melodies across all genres of music.
While this group of players has never before taken the stage together, they have all been in connection for more than 20 years and possess over a century of experience writing, teaching, performing and producing music. Boerger and Comparato have played and performed together in the L.A. Ramblers, The Deal, The Coyote Project and most recently Stranger Tractor. Additionally Boerger’s music roots include Tofu Teddy, The Red Zone, The Parlor Frogs, Diamond Eyed Jack & Flint Gray. Hoopes’ credits include The EZ Pieces, Ardys & Bradford, The Secondhands and with Mahoney, venture back into the 80’s with the east coast jam band MoonRocks. Hoopes and Hamm have played together in The Yards since 2003. Bassett and Mahoney are a seasoned and accomplished percussion duo with numerous credits for session work as well as their performances in their bands Sunu (in which both Bassett and Hamm play), Truckstop Honeymoon and 40 Watt Dreams (in which Mahoney play).

Together Play Dead produces an uncanny rendition of a part of musical history that was genius, ahead of its time and may never be experienced again. To say the music and culture of the Grateful Dead had a profound effect on the course that music has taken over the years is a grave understatement. Whether you’re a card carrying Deadhead, a Hi-Fi music aficionado or just a music junkie who loves a good groove you will not want to miss Play Dead.

                        John D Hale Band

                        Better Than Nothin

                        All Ages | 8 pm

                        John D Hale Band

If you were to ask the John D. Hale Band to classify their sound, they’d respond by simply saying “its country.” Charming as this response is, it has the potential to be misleading. Blending together their favorite parts of country, Americana , southern rock, and even bluegrass, the John D. Hale Band have crafted their own edgy and raucous sound.

John D. and the boys began playing in earnest in 2005 in support of their debut album, One of a Kind. Although independently released, the record enjoyed widespread radio play domestically as well as in Europe and Australia. The record climbed to 17 on XM Radio’s X-Country channel year end top 50 chart in 2006. The groundswell of support was avid and vocal, prompting John D. and the boys to return to the studio.

Their sophomore effort, Lost, was released in 2008 and has more than picked up where their One of a Kind left off. The album quickly topped X-Country’s charts and remained a Top Ten favorite for most of the summer in 2008. JDHB also broke into the Texas Country Music charts with their single, “Heartbreaker”. Cody Braun and David Abeyta, members of the critically acclaimed Austin, TX group, Reckless Kelly, were at the helm producing the record with Grammy Award® winning engineer Adam Odor, helping the band mature into its present form. "We really tried to push ourselves with this record. We tracked everything live in the studio to give it more of a live band feel, which is something we hadn't done before” remarks Hale, “and with Cody and David producing, I think we really ended up with a great album full of great songs." With the title track, "Lost", being the “in your face rocker of the album”, it's pretty safe to say that the John D. Hale Band is anything but lost. But, there's something for everyone on the album, from the straight forward county lyrics and country swagger of "Stake Our Claim Again", to the bluegrass undertones of "Love Pulled The Trigger" and the desperation rocker, "Pistol In Each Hand". The album also includes the band's newest single to hit radio, "Only Time Will Tell", a song full of that "don't give up just yet" attitude, that everyone that has ever been in a relationship worth keeping will relate to. Judging by the early success of this record, John and the guys just might be onto something.

The John D. Hale Band sets up shop on the family ranch in their hometown of Jackson, Missouri, a true testament to the rural approach, sound, and subject matter of the songs they play. The quartet, made up of John D. Hale (vocals, guitar), Cody Phillips (bass, vocals), Chris Brotherton (drums, vocals) and newest addition to the group, Ryne Jackson (lead guitar, fiddle, harmonica, vocals), put on a live show that is an energetic and rowdy showcase of great, American music. Armed with their original songs and a handful of covers by their heroes, the John D. Hale Band continues to travel this great country in search of anyone and everyone who will listen.

                          Dirtfoot

Dirtfoot is an all original, all acoustic band out of Shreveport, LA. Forming in early 2002, they've been honing their songs and craft in bars and pubs across North Louisiana, Southern Arkansas, and east Texas. After winning the Shreveport Times Battle of the Bands in January 2006, doors have really been opening. Now playing festivals like Voodoo Music Experience in NOLA, Wakarusa Music Festival in Lawrence, KS, Diversafest in Tulsa, OK, Mulberry Mountain Harvest Music Festival in Ozark, AR, Cutting Edge Music Festival in New Orleans, LA, Red River Revel in Shreveport, LA, Northgate Music Fetival, College Station, TX, etc, and playing major markets like Austin, Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans, etc, things are definitely looking up.

Led by the organic writings of Matt Hazelton with each player adding his own flavor and feeling to the songs and sound of the group, Dirtfoot is a blend of eclectic styles as well as diverse personalities. By far, their claim to fame is their high energy shows and overwhelming crowd participation. They involve the fans with infectious grooves, call and response songs as well as their famous "Beancans'. Each show, bean cans (homemade shakers) are passed out to the audience which turns them into a part of the percussion section. Though all of their instruments are acoustic, their energy and ingenuity will make you swear they are plugged in. Featuring instruments ranging from an acoustic guitar, banjo, upright bass, pots n' pans, drums, bells, saxophone, xylophone and more, this band has a truly engaging sound, a real dose of Gypsy, Punk, Country, Grumble Boogie! It is like a good gumbo - you have some growling vocals, upright bass and percussion that makes a good, dark, dirty Louisiana roux, mixed heartily with some meaty rhythms, combined liberally with fresh offerings from the guitar and banjo that are like okra and tomatoes picked from your backyard garden, topped with the hot n' sexy spice of the saxophone and jazz style drums, and finally a little something magical and indescribable, and you have Dirtfoot - a delicious, spicy, dirty band that will make you stomp your feet, shake your ass and yell like a lunatic on a full moon night.

                          Carrie Nation & The Speakeasy

Carrie Nation & the Speakeasy is a high-energy, acoustic brass 'n' grass outfit based out of Wichita, KS. The band, whose sound has been described as a stagecoach in overdrive, has brought their eclectic blend of punk, bluegrass, dixieland, and circus tunes to packed bars, basements, and festivals across the United States since 2007.

With tunes that cover just about everything from drinkin' to
dyin' to livin' and lyin', CNS can fill the dance floor with their blazing bluegrass and circus tunes as quickly as they can provoke existential introspection with dark, slinky tunes reminiscent of a New Orleans funeral march. Blaring trombones melt into break-neck banjo solos, while the "junkyard" trap set and stand-up bass churn out hard-driving rhythms that carry the force of a Kansas freight train.

This unique blend of styles combined with the high energy maintained on stage, allows CNS to fit perfectly into any lineup including folk, bluegrass, punk, metal, ska, or jam. Always providing an energetic and drink 'em down atmosphere to any place they play, Carrie Nation & the Speakeasy has proven a dedication to their live shows with a solid understanding of what entertainment really means.

Beginning with an arbitrary move to a farmhouse in nowhere, Kansas, and an almost decade long friendship, the band's songs and interests were slowly formed over a year of pleasurable purgatory out in the wilderness. Lots of whiskey. Lots of smoke. Lots of good times. Lots of distractions. Emerging from the haze around August of 2013 and enlisting friend and local band director who was then recently discharged from the coast guard to fill out the sound, they swarmed onto the local scene with a constant slew of high energy performances. Recent release of the ep "Westerners" is drawing midwest attention and praise, displaying a group who are paving a street to somewhere, brick by brick.

Recent release, Westerners EP, is a 4 song, get-straight-to-the-point record that introduces the bands unique blend of garage rock and pop. Recorded and produced at Element Recordings (kc) by Joel Nanos, the ep captures the bands intense , live energy that is displayed at every event.

But whatever you happen to call them, their country-flavored punkabilly and onstage antics have brought the Reverend Horton Heat a strikingly diverse fan base and a devoted cult following. The Rev himself, aka Jim Heath, leads the way with signature guitar riffs, while pounding out the bottom notes (often on top of) his upright bass is Jimbo Wallace, while Scott Churilla keeps time on the drums.

The Goddamn Gallows formed in 2004 by founding members and Lansing/Detroit natives Mikey Classic on guitar and vocals, Fishgutzzz on upright bass, and Amanda Kill on drums -replaced by current drummer Uriah Baker (aka; "Baby Genius") in 2006. The trio started out migrating around the West for a time, holing up in Hollywood squats and squalid apartments, before releasing several albums: The Gallows EP (2004), Life of Sin (2005), and Gutterbilly Blues (2007), and finally hitting the road nearly full-time to establish their presence in the psychobilly-country scene while honing their self-described "twanged-out punk rock gutterbilly".
In 2009 the addition of Avery, a fire-breathing, accordion and washboard player, as well as Jayke Orvis (formerly of the .357 String Band) on mandolin and banjo, prompted The Goddamn Gallows to explore many new directions with their songwriting and in their live performances. As evidenced on their most recent 2009 album, Ghost of The Rails, and as witnessed by their spectacular and tireless live shows, The Goddamn Gallows began to forge a path founded on their very own brand of contagious primeval abandon: an unpretentious and from-the-gut carnivalesque smorgasbord of parts old time revival, circus sideshow, and good old-fashioned rock and roll. The result falls dead center into a head on collision between something like a Western honky-tonk impromptu parking lot rodeo, and Suburbia (the 1983 Penelope Spheeris cult classic film, not the location).
Though still officially Michigan-based, they have toured relentlessly since 2007, practically living out of their van and regularly performing as many as 200 dates a year. They've supported such acts as Nekromantix, Slim Cessna's Auto Club, Mad Sin, The Legendary Shack Shakers, and even the King of Surf Guitar legend Dick Dale. They continue to rapidly grow a devoted following built on their visceral and volatile blend of multiple American music styles, and frenetic live energy -but still with just enough hardcore and punk influence to make your parents hate it.

Consisting of husband-and-wife Bridgette Moody and John Seasons, who share songwriting duties in a true collaboration, the Los Angeles duo have shared the stage and toured with groups and performers including Taken By Trees, Islands, Deafheaven, Coeur De Pirate, Olafur Arnalds, Carla Morrison, Meiko, Basia Bulat, Federico Aubele, Laura Stevenson and more. They have toured the country and played venues such as The El Rey Theatre, The Great American Music Hall, The Levitt Pavilion, Amoeba Hollywood, The Observatory OC, The Glasshouse, Crescent Ballroom, North Park Theater, The Chapel, The Beauty Bar Las Vegas, Pianos, The Casbah and many more. Having completed a tour with Islands and other tour dates with David J of Bauhaus, Geographer and more, multiple headlining tours across the country among other countless tour dates, plus a month-long residency in San Francisco and LA, Haunted Summer is poised to bring their psychedelic sound to the world.

The use of clarinet especially enhances and grounds their sound as Moody's augmented vocals and Seasons’ languid guitar licks add ethereal layers. -The Inlander (Laura Johnson)

The ensuing decade would see nearly 800 shows, 18 members, and the release of three full-length albums and 14 7-inches, as the group rose from their obscure beginnings in the tri-state DIY scene to the heights of international “indie stardom,” only to (nearly?) throw it all away in a vicious cycle of depression and decadence. The culmination of that ten-year journey is The Most Lamentable Tragedy.
The Most Lamentable Tragedy [hereafter TMLT] is the fourth studio album by Titus Andronicus [hereafter +@] and the band’s debut for Merge Records. A rock opera in five acts, it will see release on the 28th of July 2015 as a digital download, double CD, and triple vinyl LP. “[In July 2005] I turned 20 years old—I started the band and closed the door on my teenage years,” says singer/songwriter Patrick Stickles, “and on July 28th this year, I’m turning 30. Putting out this record is my way of closing the door on my twenties—sharing what I have learned, sorrowing what I learned too late.”
TMLT was produced by frequent collaborator Kevin McMahon and +@ lead guitarist Adam Reich. The core band is rounded out by the long-standing rhythm section of Eric Harm (drums) and Julian Veronesi (bass) plus hotshot rookie guitarist Jonah Maurer. Joining the lads throughout are veteran pianist Elio DeLuca and luminous Canadian violinist Owen Pallett, beside a colorful cast of special guests representing some of the New York scene’s most exciting bands (The So So Glos, Baked, Bad Credit No Credit, Lost Boy?, etc.).
The central narrative of TMLT (“a work of fiction,” Stickles says, looking away) concerns an unnamed protagonist whom we meet in the depths of his decrepit despair. Following an encounter with his own doppelgänger (an enigmatic stranger, identical in appearance though opposite in disposition), long held secrets are revealed, sending our protagonist on a transformative odyssey, through past lives and new loves, to the shocking revelation that the very thing that sustains him may be the very thing to destroy him.
Hardly the rambling mess its 29 tracks and 93:44 runtime might suggest, TMLT is a miracle of structural integrity and symmetry. The complete sequence of five “acts” will present a cohesive vision the likes of which few rock groups would have the self-esteem (let alone the chops) to even consider attempting, while the division of these acts, and the special care taken to give each its own sonic and thematic identity, will grant the listener the ability to ration or binge according to their pleasure. Across these five acts, we watch the passage of four seasons—the desolate desperation of winter melts away under the warm hope of approaching spring, just as the sticky fumes of the big city summer dissipate when autumn brings its comforting colors, and with them, the knowledge that they will fade, that all will fall and decay.
Still beyond the linear legibility of its seasonal motif, TMLT creates a universe that begs to be explored, an interlocking cycle of phases and recurrent events. “The first half is the second half in reverse—holding the first up to the mirror, we see the second,” explains Stickles, feverishly. “Like our universe, it expands outward in every direction. It contains our most ornate arrangements and our most spare, our most uplifting music and our most bleak. With equal fervor we strive to show you +@ at our most beautiful and our most brutal, our most polished and our most raw.” All these factors contribute to what Stickles identifies as “a certain bipolar quality.”
“It should always be the dearest hope of the Artist that the Art they create could have been created by no one else,” Stickles says suddenly, unprompted, “and that if it cannot be adored, it should be despised. Cast wide the poles! +@ is undaunted and TMLT will not be quietly abided.”
Nor can it be denied—TMLT is the pinnacle and the missing piece, both the crown jewel of the band’s discography and the legend that contextualizes their entire body of work. It reveals that +@ are what hardcore fans have said they are for years, and what the world must now recognize them to be: not merely the greatest rock and roll band of this era, but one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time.

The Sprouts are a full time working band and play shows all year round for anyone who will listen. Whether it be Grayson VanSickle playing his machine gun banjo, singing out the novel of our lives or guitarist Adam Waggs, who yanks up the melody up by the ear and keeps you kickin'. With a smile on his face, Daniel Redmond pulls out cannon fire notes pounding the stand-up, dog house bass, and Blayne Thiebaux gives the crowd a spectacular show, burnin' rosin and bendin' air, exploding the fiddle while bursting into flames. Together, they are MOUNTAIN SPROUT.

Playing around 250 shows a year, including music festivals, concert halls and backwood hole in the walls. They have performed in venues large and small. From opening up for national icons Willie Nelson and Leonn Russel to performing with jam band titans such as Yonder Mountain String Band and Wide Spread Panic. You can find them hanging out with home grown legends like Split Lip Rayfield, Randy Crouch and countless other amazing musicians. Always opening up another beer or a sheltered mind at the local and not-so-local bars, MOUNTAIN SPROUT is always truly a crowd favorite.

After forming several renditions, the band made a final pact in ‘06. Since then MOUNTAIN SPROUT has released multiple recordings preceded by the infamous “Pornobilly”(2005) that earned a place in everyones heart. Then officially releasing their original debut album "One More for the Ditch"(2007), followed by a collection of traditional tunes entitled "Fambilly Hour"(2008), and tapped from source with another CD of original songs called "Into the Sun"(2009). With there latest smash hit album for the collection “Habits to Feed”(2010).

Now with much more to come from the Mudstomp Records family and the Pipeline Productions power house, Mountain Sprout is here to push the limits!
